Cartwheel Arts are offering a free poetry walk on Wednesday 19th September, in Healy Dell so you can write your own poems and place them on the connect2poetry app. We’ll be leaving by coach from Castlemere Sure Start (on Tweedale St near the station), so we will meet there from 12.30, with a view to leaving at 12.45pm. We will arrive at Healy Dell by 1.15 at the latest and will be there for about an hour, before returning to Castlemere Sure Start.
In this session we’ll be going for an easy walk together, and testing out the Connect2Poetry app as we go, led by a poet (hoping this will be Sam Fisher) who will help us write and edit our poems. People are recommended to bring their phones if they have them, and ideally to contact Vik Young at Cartwheel Arts on 01706 361300 ( www.cartwheelarts.org ) beforehand to download a test version of the app. For those who don’t have a smartphone, we will have a couple of spare phones – but people might need to work in small groups, as there might not be enough for a phone each.
So if anyone’s interested in trying out the app, this would be a good opportunity to have a bash at it in the company of others and with a workshop leader. You’d then be able to use it on your own whenever you wanted, if you have your own phone. For anyone in the Touchstones Creative Writing Group who doesn’t have a phone, but who would like to try using the app again after this session, Cartwheel Arts could look at an informal session sometime the following week – no actual workshop leader, but Vik could bring some phones and meet people, and you could have a go.
This is a fantastic FREE opportunity for all writers.
