Guild Soup – Word Soup launches the Preston Three20 Writing Project! Thursday 30th June 8pm

Word Soup on Thursday 30th June is proud to be launching the Preston Guild writing project – Preston Three20 !

To celebrate Preston Guild in 2012, They Eat Culture & Preston Guild Take Off will lead on a stunning, ambitious, unique literature project.

Three different writers will write a story based on Preston: past, present, future. The first writer will begin their story in 1972, and the focus will be on the past. The second writer will begin their story in 2012 and tell the contemporary story of Preston as it is now.  The third writer will begin in 2072 and tell a story of Preston’s future, working backwards to end in 2032. The stories will be presented during the Guild celebrations in four different formats: live performance, print, product, and digital instillation.

Preston writers from all walks of life will also be involved in this project, writing their own stories within the Preston: Past, Present, Future theme, and we are launching the project with a Word Soup special – Guild Soup – on Thursday 30th June with the first lead artist on the project – DAVID GAFFNEY.

Joining David Gaffney on the line-up will be Preston writers Christine Billington, Kim McGowan, Martin Domleo, and John Rutter, and the evening will continue with two writers from Manchester – Sarah Leigh and Lou Minns, plus there’ll be a little bit of literary magic from Magic Mark before the evening starts and at the interval.

But no Word Soup would be complete without our regular Open Mic slot – so get there early to get your name down for your four minutes of fame!

Guild Soup – Thursday 30th June – 8pm start (Magic Mark from 7.45pm) – £3 on the door.

The Continental, South Meadow Lane, Preston PR1 8JP.

Hi, I would like to come to this I think, but can I bring a friend who is not a member of the writing group? I am a new member myself so don’t know how it works

Yes Irene – Word Soup is open to all so please feel free to bring as many friends as you like! (oh, and if you or your friends want to bring along a 3-4 minute piece of writing to read on the open mic session, feel free – but it isn’t compulsory, just listening to the performances is fine too!)
    See you there!
