Being Human – Word Soup Special on Thursday 24th March 2011 from 8pm

Word Soup at The Continental this month is going to be a night to remember!

Delving into “Being Human” – with poetry and prose performers, plus music and a little bit of Magic – Word Soup will be examining the humour, the horror, the love, the hate, the pleasure and the pain of the human condition. Don’t miss it.

Headlining at Word Soup “Being Human” will be renowned poet Robert Sheppard whose latest collection Berlin Bursts ‘feature territories as dispersed as Sheppard’s local Capital of Culture and the global city of division and political murder of the title poem… At the centre of the collection is ‘Six Poems Against Death’ whose lyric imperative hovers before the portals of the unknown to embrace human unfinish as the condition of our survival.’

Joining Robert Sheppard on the line-up for the evening are the multifarious human talents of Mark Porter, Mark Charlesworth and Chris Newton, all of whom are creating a stir with their respective debut novels, plus Helen Clark Award for Prose Winner Kim McGowan, Litfest and local radio literary performer AND Lancashire Writing Hub Your Writing#3 Competition Winner Avril Scott, and Spotlight Open Mic Prize Slam winner Trev Meaney, and their performances will be supported by the musical talent of Harvey Lord and a little bit of magic from Magic Mark.

There’ll also by usual the Open mic slot for more multi-talented human contributions so get there nice and early to make sure you don’t miss a moment.
