It’s Short Story Season!
The Lancashire Writing Hub are teaming up with a number of organisations and publishers – including Flambard Press, Iron Press, Route Publishing, Comma Press, Cadaverine and Mslexia – for National Short Story Day, and joining in the celebrations of the Short Story for National Short Story Week too.
The Lancashire Writing Hub are hosting a Word Soup Short Story Night on Tuesday 16th November and launching the Lancashire Writing Hub Short Story Competition.:
We are sending a call-out to all Short Story Writers across Lancashire and the North West for performers at the Word Soup Short Story Night.
Please email Jane at writing@theyeatculture.org if you’d like a 3-5 or 5-10 minute slot, attaching a brief cv, links to any of your online work/website/blog, and/or a short example of your work (less than 1,000 words).
WORD SOUP SHORT STORY NIGHT
The successful writers will get the opportunity to showcase their short story to a friendly and appreciative audience at The Continental, South Meadow Lane, Preston on Tuesday 16th November from 8pm. You will also be encouraged to enter your short story into our competition – subject to the terms of the competition.
LWH SHORT STORY DAY COMPETITION:
The LWH Short Story Day Competition is open to writers living or working in Lancashire, or originally from Lancashire, and must be a story unpublished elsewhere (including online). The maximum wordcount is 1,000 words. Entries with more than this will not be read! The theme is completely open – so over to you!
The winner of the LWH Short Story Day Competition will be published online on National Short Story Day 21st December, as part of a collaborative project with a number of organisations and publishers – including Flambard Press, Iron Press, Route Publishing, Comma Press, Cadaverine and Mslexia .
Short Story Day on 21st December is a “UK-wide celebration of prose’s short-yet-perfectly-crafted form” and ”will consist of a series of linked online and live events up and down the country, offering a variety of stories, old and new, to be read, listened to and enjoyed” – and the Lancashire Writing Hub will publish the winner of the LWH Short Story Day Competition on our website on 21st December as part of the interlinked celebrations.
Entries to be emailed to Jane at writing@theyeatculture.org clearly labelled “LWH Short Story Day COMPETITION” before 5pm Friday 10th December.
